RALLY FOR PEACE OR RALLY FOR POWER?
This morning of January 13, 2025, the Iglesia ni Cristo flexed its political power by gathering allegedly a million of its followers in Manila with thousands as well rallying in Cebu and Davao.
INC called it a rally for peace. But where’s the violence?
Is there massive violence erupting somewhere in the Philippines? Are politicians shooting and killing each other? Are civilians being murdered?
What they call a rally for peace is actually a euphemism or charade for what it really is – a rally for power!
Power to shield an increasingly unpopular Vice President from accountability for her confidential corruption, gross mismanagement of the Office of the Vice President and Department of Education, and deranged meltdown spewing death threats and assaulting democracy.
Power to influence and dissuade politicians who are good governance advocates and who investigated the crimes and Constitutional violations of the Vice President.
Power to reconsolidate and remind the public of the INC’s role in local and national politics – with a voting bloc that can allegedly make or break electoral chances not just of Mayors, Congressmen, and Senators but even the President.
But the INC has no power over the 41% who support impeachment.
It has no power over independent minded citizens who are against corruption and unfit public servants.
It has no power over me.
So while the noisy minority rallies for power, the silent majority rallies for accountability – expressing their sentiments publicly or in hushed whispers in person and private messages online.
There can be no peace without justice and accountability.
