Santo Niño
19 January 2025

Dear friends, as we celebrate the Santo Niño, the oldest and most beloved devotion in our country, let us reflect on how it calls us to care for the children around us. How can we honor the Christ Child while 95 Filipino children die daily from hunger, 38% of those aged 0 to 4 suffer from growth stunting, over 2,000 young girls aged 10 to 14 endure teenage pregnancy each year, and 2 million children are victims of online sexual abuse and exploitation? Our devotion to the Santo Niño must go beyond reverence and rituals; it must move us to action—defending the dignity, rights, and well-being of every child, for in serving them, we serve Christ Himself.
